Back from Vacation - Avoid Stress with These Tips

What Causes Stress?

No matter how we live our lives, physical and mental stress affects us in different ways. Deadlines, relationships, expectations, and demands—these are just a few examples of loopholes where stress sneaks in. The best way to manage stress is to first define it.

  • Where does it come from?
  • How does it affect you?
  • How do you react to stress?

It’s only when we identify stress that we can do something about it.

A Life Without Stress

We don't see striving for a life entirely without stress as particularly desirable either. Stress is a natural phenomenon that arises when we can maintain full control. If we want to continue developing, facing challenges, and enriching ourselves, we need to expose ourselves to moments and situations we haven't experienced before. Stress itself isn't dangerous; it's an indicator.

Balance Between Work and Rest

We believe that life feels best when we move between work and rest. When the body's need for movement and challenge results in recovery and rest. In this movement, balance arises. It's about shifting focus and moving from striving, stretching, and creating to letting go, releasing, and observing.

How to Manage Stress

The best way to manage stress, we believe, is to embrace both sides of yourself—your active and passive side. The body is often simpler than we think. It tells us when it’s tired, just as it signals when it needs activity, or at least should have it. If we take the time to listen to these signals, we can much more easily maintain the balance we need.

The Goal of Balance

Achieving balance is not a final destination but a continuous process. When we actively work towards mental and physical equilibrium, we work constructively on ourselves. We then create good conditions for all aspects of life. An action towards balance can be anything from an extra long sleep-in after a tough work week to coming home and going for a run after a physically inactive day.

Meet Yourself

As mentioned, we need time with ourselves to understand our needs. Otherwise, the brain just keeps going, and the body has to keep up as best it can. Take your time. Here are some tips on what we usually do to balance everyday life.

  • A calm walk. Preferably without music or other distractions. A walk alone can be just the right amount of stimulation for both the mind and body without either part getting tired, while both enjoy a moment of active recovery.
  • Gentle stretching. No demands, no pain. Imagine how a cat stretches—gently and sensitively, Yoga & stretching works great to calm the mind.

How you best find peace is a personal journey of discovery. What works for you?
