Db Journey
Db Journey was founded by Truls Brataas and Jon Olsson in 2009, and the rest is history.
The greatness of DB Journey's products stems from the fact that both Truls and Jon were interested in action sports and enjoyed seeking new experiences around the world. They traveled extensively and found that the available suitcases left much to be desired, so the idea was born.
The first product they developed together was a ski bag (Snow Roller), and the second product was a backpack (Hugger Backpack).
Truls is the engineer behind the backpacks, who, among other things, worked at an airport for a week just to learn more about how luggage is handled so he could create the perfect suitcase.
Jon is the marketer with an eye for design and, with his large following, has been able to involve the community in everything from choosing the company name to selecting colors and designs.
Why Douchebag is now called DB Journey
The products became particularly popular in the Nordic and Scandinavian countries, where Jon Olsson had his largest audience and where Douchebags had its headquarters, in Oslo. It was also an advantage that the word "douchebag" didn’t carry the same negative connotation for Norwegians and Swedes as it did for native English speakers. These customers appreciated the products, but the name was less favored.
As the bag company developed from a side project into a global brand, the name became an increasingly obvious challenge. The company began using the shortened version "Db" more often in its marketing instead of the full name, and it became clear that if the company wanted to expand and reach a broader audience in English-speaking countries, a name change was necessary.
They chose Db as they had already been using it as an abbreviation. This time, however, they started playing even more with the name, and after asking the staff, they understood that Db could mean very different things to different people; Dream big, Do better, Dangerous bacon, Discoverbali, etc. Hence, the choice fell on "D_b_".

Safe to say, together they made the perfect combo, and with over 15 years under their belts, it’s safe to say they’ve truly succeeded.
